>> hello again, i am jeff barnd. >> and i am karen parks. breaking news in arundel county. one person is critically hurt after a shooting along baltimore annapolis road in glen burnie. three suspected robbers went into mr. wings and pizza restaurant and one of them shot a person inside. so far, no arrests. >> now on to our other top story this evening. pg county executive jack johnson and his wife busted on corruption charges. >> myranda stephens has new information on the story and reaction from johnson himself. myranda? >> karen and jeff, the federal investigation into johnson began way back in 2006. but it all came to a head today, when he and his wife, who was just elected to city council were arrested this morning. on corruption charges. according to an affidavit, johnson was involved in a low income housing scheme where he allegedly gave reality developers favors in exchange for money. @%d as fbi agents honeed in on

the couple's home this morning, johnson allegedly told his wife to flush a $100,000 check down the toilet and stuff cash in her bra. agents later recovered more than $79,000 in cash from leslie johnson's underwear and couple faces several charges, including tampering with evidence and aiding and abetting. >> today's law enforcement investigation is the tip of an iceberg. what i mean by that, is that it is part of a broader ongoing corruption investigation by the fbi and irs here in prince george's county. >> i am innocent of these charges. i just cannot wait for the facts to come out. and when they come out, i am absolutely convinced that i am going to be -- we will be vindicated. >> now, johnson and his wife were released under certain conditions that include home monitoring for jack johnson.

but for many years critics have said it is run down and past its prime. two years ago, four companies submitted bids to build a new complex to replace the arena. but because of the recession, those plans have been put on hold. now mayor stephanie rawlings-blake would like to see a new complex built, somewhere else. perhaps near the convention center. and 1 councilman said that it is imperative to keep 1st mariner open until after a new complex opens. he said that will allow baltimoreans to enjoy conexperts regular acts that come to town every year. >> ringling brothers, the disney on ice. those types of traveling tours that are the bread and butter of the arena business, are not going to say we will be back in three years when the new building is built. they will find another stop. and getting them back is a challenge. >> earlier we asked should taxpayer money be used to finance a new baltimore arena? so far seven% say yes. while 93% say no. michael writes on facebook.
